Synthesis of novel prodigiosin derivatives.
New publication

In his latest publication (to be read here), Moritz Weber et al. addressed the synthesis of various 5′-n-alkylated MBC derivatives, which he subsequently converted to new derivatives of prodigiosin.

For this purpose, he considered the conversion of monopyrroles with the enzymes PigC, TamQ, and TreaP, the latter two of which accepted long-chain MBC derivatives, whereas PigC only converted short-chain MBC derivatives. In addition, the compounds were tested against the cisplatin-resistant cell line RT-112, showing 2.6-fold higher cytotoxicity than prodigiosin and thus may serve as potential new leads for future structural optimization.

We sincerely congratulate on this great work!
