Last week there was an unusual silence in our institute buildings as most of our staff participated in our IBOC-internal retreat in Stolzenberg/Wermelskirchen.
The event was already opened on Tuesday afternoon with a small poster session. After a social evening with games and table tennis, we went back to the seminar room the next morning after a hearty breakfast. There, our doctoral students presented their publication strategies in thematically coordinated groups, which were extensively discussed as usual. In the afternoon, we started a hike through the forest to the beautiful Sengbach Dam in fantastic weather. Everyone mastered the seemingly endless climb at the end of the hike without any major difficulties, and exhausted energy reserves were recharged at the joint barbecue evening.
The following day also began in the seminar room. Traditionally, we used this day to discuss internal issues and problems in the Institute's everyday life.
For the last evening, the organisation team, consisting of Lisa, Lea and Cornelius, had prepared a relaxed cocktail evening and an entertaining IBOC quiz game, before everyone went home again the next morning.
At this point I would like to say a big thank you to the organising team for the great planning and realisation of this year's event!
I can certainly speak on behalf of everyone when I emphasise that the retreat was once again a very nice and successful event. :)
