In a successful cooperation involving our staff and colleagues from the Institute of Crop Science and Resource Protection - Molecular Phytomedicine in Bonn, the substance class of prodiginins and their effect on plants and plant pathogens was investigated. The preparation of the five prodigiosin derivatives provided by our team was achieved by chemical methods, bio- or mutasyntheses. Subsequently, various assays were performed by the team in Bonn to investigate the effect of the provided substances on nematodes, plant-pathogenic fungi and even on plants.
