On June 13, 2024, Jan Deska, an appreciated colleague from the University of Helsinki in Finland, gave an exciting talk at the OC Colloquium at Heinrich Heine University. The lecture focused on non-natural enzyme activities and particularly emphasized the role of metalloproteins as mediators for pericyclic reactions.
Jan Deska is not only known for his outstanding research, but also for his hospitality towards HHU students. He regularly hosts students for research internships and master theses in Helsinki, including our PhD students Marisa Bickmann , Marcel Schatton and Mona Haase.
The lecture was followed by an entertaining post-session, during which the participants engaged in lively discussions.
