In a recent publication Ruth Ganardi et al. describe a new method to synthesize the natural product (+)-isokotanin A. It combines a palladium catalysed coupling reaction with an enzymatic hydrolysis. This synthesis strategy allows for improved scale-up with simultaneous high enantioselectivity.
