On 25 February 2025, Ruth Ganardi successfully defended her doctoral thesis – and we warmly congratulate her on this achievement!
During her time at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, she dedicated herself to research on biaryls and aurachines. Part of her outstanding work was published in Advanced Synthesis & Catalysis. In it, she describes the synthesis of the natural product (+)-isocotanin A by a combination of palladium-catalysed coupling reactions and enzymatic hydrolysis.
With her helpful, calm and friendly manner, Ruth created a harmonious atmosphere in the laboratory and always represented it excellently as a laboratory manager. Her colleagues will not only remember her professional competence, but also the regular ‘dance parties’ in the laboratory - and the dramatic Roti fire, which fortunately did not harm anyone.

Ruth now lives in Hamburg and works as a process engineer at Tesa.
